How to Get Cultist
Cultist is unlocked by a hidden trainer in a secret room beyond the Weeping Crypt. Bring 30 Sin, clear 75 enemies inside the crypt and pay 1,000 silver. The quest and the Sin you need to enter it come from the same place, which makes this the most self-contained class route in the game.
Cultist requirements
30 Sin, a 75-enemy quest inside the Weeping Crypt and 1,000 silver. Farm the Sin on the same crypt runs that produce the kills — Idols of Hatred spawn in the rooms you are already clearing.
The route comes from launch-week and second-week gameplay captures, not a developer table. The trainer's exact name was not legible in the recordings checked, so this page does not invent one. Confirm the prompt and cost in your current server before grinding.
Unlock route
- Collect 30 Sin and 1,000 silver. Cultist is a pure Sin class. Do not burn Idols of Hatred on a different trainer while you are preparing this one.
- Travel to the Weeping Crypt. Save the waypoint. You will be running this location repeatedly for both the Sin and the kill count.
- Find the hidden room. The trainer is not on the main crypt path — recorded routes reach him through a concealed room beyond it. This is the step worth watching footage for rather than searching blind.
- Accept the quest first. The recorded assignment is 75 enemies killed inside the crypt. Kills made before you accept do not count, which is an expensive mistake on a route this long.
- Clear 75 enemies in the crypt. Because the requirement is crypt-specific, this is the one class quest where farming the alignment currency and farming the quest are the same activity.
- Return and pay 1,000 silver. Confirm the silver before you walk back; the trainer does not hold your progress hostage, but a second trip is pure lost time.
Farm the Sin and the kills in one pass
This is the practical reason to take Cultist seriously as a first class rather than a late one. The Weeping Crypt is also where Idols of Hatred — the item that grants Sin — spawn in lootable rooms. A crypt run that server-hops for idols is simultaneously feeding a 75-enemy counter. Nothing else on the class list overlaps this cleanly. The full method, including what not to waste, is on the Sin and Offering guide.
- Accept the class quest before your first idol run, not after.
- Do not consume Stone of Accords here; they give Offerings, which Cultist does not use.
- Watch for Explorer NPCs near the crypt. Letting one die grants Sin, which fits this route exactly.
What the class does
Cultist attacks sanity rather than health. Its recorded kit blinds, pressures the sanity meter and creates an explosive image, and it spends your own sanity or health to do it. That makes it a specialist pick, not a safe default — it is strongest against players who have a sanity bar to break.
| Intercepting Domain | Displayed in the launch-build showcase alongside the rest of the kit. |
|---|---|
| False Image | An illusion that the showcase demonstrates as an explosive decoy. |
| Shade Tear | The blinding and sanity-pressure tool in the recorded set. |
Exact costs, cooldowns and scaling were not legible enough in the available footage to publish as numbers. Read the tooltips after you unlock it.
Where Cultist sits in the meta
A September 7 recorded tier discussion put Cultist near the top for PvP, alongside Hive Disciple, because rot, control and sanity pressure matter far more against players than against bosses. The same discussion did not rate it highly for boss PvE, where Crusader sustain and Gladiator damage do more work. If your goal is clearing bosses, unlock something else first and come back for Cultist when you start taking PvP seriously.
Build fit
Because the kit spends your own sanity and health, Cultist wants a race that gives you a buffer rather than one that adds more glass. Check the race effects before committing, and read prestige first — a class that pays its own health as a resource is a class that can hand you a prestige loss if you misjudge a fight. Cultist shares its whole farming route with Duskwing, so unlocking both costs far less than twice as much.
