How to Get Crusader
Crusader's trainer is Elian, in the church in The Glade near spawn. Bring 30 Offerings, slay 25 wraiths and pay 1,000 silver. It is the easiest class trainer to physically reach, and launch-week discussion rates it the strongest pick for boss and group PvE.
Crusader requirements
30 Offerings, a 25-wraith quest and 1,000 silver. The trainer is Elian at The Glade church. No night window, no hidden room and no timed run — the whole cost of this class is the Offerings.
These come from September 8 and September 10 gameplay captures. Some articles print 20 Offerings and 500 silver; every recording checked shows 30 and 1,000. Read the live prompt before grinding to a fixed number.
Unlock route
- Collect 30 Offerings and 1,000 silver. Crusader is a pure Offering class, so Sin does nothing here. Explorer NPC rescues and Stone of Accords are the two sources worth planning around — see the Sin and Offering guide.
- Go to The Glade church. This is the shortest trainer trip in the game. If you are choosing a first class purely on travel cost, this is the one.
- Speak to Elian and accept the quest. Accept before you go hunting; earlier kills do not count toward the requirement.
- Slay 25 wraiths. Recordings describe the targets as wraiths or ghosts depending on the narrator. It is the same 25-kill objective either way.
- Return and pay 1,000 silver. Confirm the silver before walking back so the trip is not wasted.
What the class does
Crusader is the sustain class. The recorded kit is a movement tool, a healing aura and a protective zone, and the in-game description centres on healing and protection rather than damage. That is exactly why it is valued in groups: it keeps a boss attempt alive rather than ending it faster.
| Holy Step | The movement entry in the displayed kit. |
|---|---|
| Healing Aura | The sustained group recovery tool. |
| Sacred Sanctuary | The protective zone in the launch-build showcase. |
Healing values and cooldowns were not legible enough in the available footage to publish as numbers. Read the tooltips after unlocking.
Best class for bosses — with one caveat
A September 7 recorded tier discussion placed Crusader first for PvE sustain, ahead of Gladiator's damage and Duskwing's safety. The caveat is symmetrical: the same discussion moved Crusader down for PvP, where team sustain matters much less in a one-on-one fight and sanity pressure from Cultist or Hive Disciple does more.
If your plan is the Disease Era route and the Festering Wound, Crusader is the most forgiving unlock on the list. It is also the class that most directly protects prestige, because prestige is lost on death and Crusader's entire kit is about not dying.
Build fit
Crusader does not need a race to fix a weakness, which makes it unusually flexible. Pair it with whatever your race roll actually gave you rather than rerolling for it. If you intend to hybridise later, note that taking a second class's move costs you the full-class passive — worth reading the tradeoff on the class comparison before you pay a second trainer.
